It is flash. It wouldn't run on newgrounds if it wasn't an SWF file.
One of the aspects of Flash playing video files regardless of weather you have quicktime or windows or realplay.

In fact Youtube IS FLASH

Furthermore, the animation aspects of flash were used in this to cover up the original text. The fact that you didn't notice them is a testament to how well they were done, but I definitely could not have pulled it off without flash.
